Professor at Ghent University, Belgium

Tijl De Bie is a professor of AI and data science at Ghent University, Belgium. He previously worked at the KU Leuven (where he obtained his PhD), UC Berkeley, UC Davis, Southampton University, and the University of Bristol. His current research interests include trustworthy AI (with a particular focus on fairness and transparency), (automating) data exploration and data science more generally, machine learning on graphs, recommender systems, and applications to the job market and HR, social media analysis, music informatics and bioinformatics. His research has attracted funding from prestigious national and international sources, such as from the ERC (a consolidator grant and a proof of concept grant) and the FWO-Flanders (an Odysseus Group I grant).
