Biography

Hector Geffner is an Alexander von Humbolt Professor at RWTH Aachen University, Germany, and a Wallenberg Guest Professor at Linköpings University, Sweden.

Hector is from Buenos Aires and obtained a PhD in Computer Science at UCLA in 1989. He then worked at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in New York, at the Universidad Simon Bolivar in Caracas, and at the Catalan Institute of Advanced Resarch (ICREA) and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. Hector is interested in computational models of reasoning, action, learning, and planning that are general and effective. His research on representation learning for acting and planning is funded by an Advanced ERC grant and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
