Senior Researcher at Microsoft Research

Claudio Zeni received a Ph.D. in physics from King’s College London in 2020, where he worked on Gaussian Process force fields for molecular dynamics applications. Previously, he had obtained a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Materials Engineering from University of Trieste, followed by a M.Sc. in Complex Systems from King’s College London. Claudio continued his academic career as a Postdoctoral researcher at SISSA (Trieste) in 2020, after a brief interlude as a data scientist. There, he worked on application and deployment of machine learning force fields, and on dimensionality reduction techniques. In 2022, he joined Microsoft Research as a Senior Researcher, where he is currently working on machine learning applications to materials discovery.
Claudio has extensive experience in the development and application of machine learning force fields for the simulation of inorganic materials and nanoparticles. He was the lead organizer for the 2022 “Young Researcher’s workshop on machine learning for materials science”.
